A Sole Unit - My Debut Novel
I didn't have a dream of writing a book. I had a wound that wouldn't heal. I thought I had treated it, I didn't know it was still a wound. Probably not that big. Big as a whole book. The book was inspired by my personal story, and it is a love letter, mixed with deep concern for this place.
What is the book about?
After the birth of her first son, Michal wants to slow down. She decides to return from a relocation in New York, leaving dream conditions behind and finding herself back in uniform, as an officer responsible for streamlining processes in a prestigious intelligence unit.
She meets Boaz, a rising star and the unit's designated commander, who is determined to fix the flaws revealed by a previous war in his watch. "Maybe I'll even have time to fix this army for my children," Michal decides as she sets out with him on her life's mission: establishing an innovative system that will be able to measure intelligence success.
Other commanders in the unit, no less determined, defend the old order and open up deception exercises and internal organizational battles against her. Michal, who has also experienced upheaval in her family life, discovers that the change she seeks to lead depends on her ability to stand up: one officer against an entire system.
A Sole Unit is a novel that provides a fascinating, if measured, glimpse into the world of technological intelligence. The book, which began writing before the events of October 7, gains chilling weight in their aftermath.
